Refrigeration Fault Diagnosis Quiz

Good fault diagnosis is about reading the evidence before reaching for an answer. The RDA Academy Fault Quiz gives working refrigeration engineers a practical way to test their diagnostic thinking and identify areas worth revisiting. Work through refrigeration fault scenarios and decide what the information is telling you before choosing your answer.

It is designed for engineers working in supermarket, retail and commercial refrigeration who want to practise fault-finding away from the pressure of a live call-out. Use it to challenge your own approach, refresh your knowledge or simply see how you get on. This is a training and practice tool, not a formal qualification or assessment. Start the quiz, work through the questions and see where your diagnostic reasoning takes you.

What you’ll practise

  • Reading air-on, air-off, coil and defrost patterns on a case trend
  • Naming the fault from the graph, not from a site visit
  • Spotting iced evaporators, probe faults, slow leaks / EEV starvation, and normal defrost recoveries

Keep practising
